Get married in Ibiza

Your wedding in a magic island

For many people Ibiza is a magic island, a land where they have seen their dreams come true.

English, German, Spanish and Dutch couples often fall in love with the Island and decide it is the only place in the world where they want to celebrate their wedding. There is a theory that the Island is protected by the Phoenicians and absorbs the energy from the stars and many people assure that those who get married on Ibiza achieve lifelong love.

The ceremonies are very emotional, full of light and the strength of the sea. The altar is often located next to the beach, surrounded by flower petals, and after the couple consecrate their love, butterflies are released and wishes made and the people toast with cava while watching the sun go down. They are intense weddings, sometimes unconventional, without ties, but with glamour, occasionally with all the guests dressed in white and with the bride looking radiant, free and different, in a natural environment that perpetuates the moment.

It isn’t just a cliché: nobody forgets a wedding on Ibiza; nor when the ceremony is held in one of the island’s beautiful chapels, which have nothing to do with other churches. The small whitewashed chapels of Ibiza also provide emotions and memories which are difficult to repeat. The guests, who rarely turn down the invitation to a wedding on Ibiza, confirm the legend of the Island as a place which inspires and transforms and which has the characteristic of being one of the few corners of the planet where everybody feels at ease.

Footballers of various nationalities, actresses, singers, models and people of all different professions fall in love on Ibiza and also choose the Island to make their wedding day a memorable one.

Getting married on Ibiza is a magical experience and that’s why the Island is today’s tower of Babel, where people come from all over the world, ready to let their feelings run free, and with the conviction that on Ibiza their dreams will come true and that it is the place where what is joined together is unlikely to be put asunder.

On Ibiza, there are many companies specialized in the organization of weddings and events that attend different market segments and cover both national and international demand, especially from countries such as England, Germany, Holland, France and Italy.

The island hosts weddings all year round, but especially in spring, in May and June, and also in late summer and autumn, between September and November. With an area of 572 km2, Ibiza offers 210 kilometres of beaches and 2,948 hours of sun a year.

The warm temperatures make it possible to celebrate events outdoors eight months a year and especially in spring and autumn.

The bride and groom will find spectacular accommodation to house the guests, to celebrate the banquet and also to enjoy their honeymoon; for example, in the Island’s rural hotels, located in historic houses surrounded by orchards and gardens. They are the perfect mixture of tradition, respect for nature, harmony in the details and personalized attention. These hotels combine exquisite decoration with the friendly but discreet treatment that characterizes Ibizan hospitality. They all offer welcoming and relaxing stays, with services such as spas, pony trekking and sailing, and breakfasts with natural products, which invite you to discover a warm and happy paradise on the White Island.

The good life is also associated with food, so it is important to know that on Ibiza you will find highly authentic restaurants all year round, located in magical corners or overlooking the sea. It will be hard to find fish and seafood as delicious as the local species that the Ibizan fishermen deliver to the island’s restaurants every morning. The authentic flavours of local cuisine are brought out by the beauty of the landscape, which acts as a multiplier of emotions.

Both guests and couple will find another incentive: the legendary Ibiza. The old town of Dalt Vila is a World Heritage Site. Its impressive walls, its monuments and its medieval streets liven up a pleasant walk, where you will be surprised by the beauty of the buildings, the archaeological finds, the views of the harbour and the sea and the mysteries that appear round each bend.

Various civilizations have left their mark on this Acropolis, the white pearl of the Mediterranean: Phoenicians, the Punic peoples, Romans and Carthaginians. Puig des Molins, for example, is considered the most important necropolis of the western Mediterranean, founded by the Phoenicians in the 4th century B.C. The Archaeological Museum, at the top of the walled city, exhibits an extensive collection of coins, tools, jewellery, pottery and art from different eras, and at the Madina Yabisha interpretive centre, you can reconstruct the history of this land during the period of Muslim rule. The historical tour of the Island takes you through other municipalities, such as Sant Josep, where you can find the town of Sa Caleta, considered a World Heritage Site by the Unesco because it provides an outstanding example of the urbanization and social life of Phoenician colonies in the Mediterranean. In the municipality of Sant Joan, you can find the cave of Es Culleram, the shrine erected in honour of Tanit, who the Punic peoples worshipped and considered the goddess of fertility. The legacy of the ancients, full of discoveries and mysteries, is spectacular and provides fascinating possibilities for enjoying the magic of the island; another possibility that makes a wedding on Ibiza an intense blend of experiences.

The natural landscape, unexpectedly green, sensual and bright, combined with the vast accumulation of ancient culture present in all the corners of this Mediterranean Paradise, makes Ibiza a very special and attractive place. On the Island, events which would normally go unnoticed become indelible emotional experiences, and travellers who understand this principle choose to collect these experiences in order to feed on their positivity and transmit them to the people they love. That’s why getting married on Ibiza, and bringing together all the people that form part of the life of the couple, is a bid for the future and for life.

The attraction of Ibiza is so powerful that many who come to spend a short holiday end up deciding to get married there and, sometimes, the Island has become their refuge, the place they return to again and again; and indeed there are also many people who end up staying permanently.

Ibiza is the best setting for a wedding, because it is the ideal place to fulfil the dream of a lifetime.
